Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed;
but let him glorify God on this behalf. - 1 Peter 4:16

The Emblem Explained

crossThe CROSS

The greatest event in human and angelic history was the crucifixion of theLord Jesus Christ. While Jesus hung on the cross, God the Father punished Him for the sins of the entire world. Jesus paid in full the penalty for your sins, my sins, the sins of everyone who has ever lived or ever will live, making eternal life in Heaven available to everyone. We are all sinners and cannot do any work good enough to earn an eternal dwelling place in God's heavenly home. Thankfully, Jesus did everything for us through His death. Because He was raised from the dead three days after His death, we know God the Father was satisfied with His salvation work on our behalf. When we believe in Jesus as our Savior, our Deliverer from our sins and death, we will be saved!

Jesus’ death removed the barrier between sinful man (all of us) and perfect God. If we believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for us (as our substitute, taking the punishment for our sins), we gain eternal life, Jesus’ perfect righteousness, and many other unimaginably wonderful gifts. We have the right to talk directly to God the Father in prayer, including confessing our sins to Him so we can live by the power of God the Holy Spirit and continue growing in our understanding of His plan for us. The ultimate of God's grace came when God the Father sent His only Son Jesus Christ to provide salvation for everyone. Imagine all that God will do for us now that we have believed in His Son and are His children forever!

Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Acts 16:31b Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.

I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I John 2:2 He Himself [Jesus Christ] is the propitiation [the act that satisfied God the Father] for our sins; and not for ours [believers] only, but also for those of the whole world.

Colossians 3:1 If ye, then, be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God.

John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies.”

The BIBLEbible image

The HOLY BIBLE represents the written Word that God inspired and gave to all mankind so that everyone can fulfill His will for their lives. This Book contains everything we need to know to obtain eternal life as well as all that God plans for us after salvation. God gave us His Word, His thoughts, so that through the power of the Holy Spirit we can know and obey Him and thereby glorify Him and obtain eternal riches beyond imagination.

Hebrews 4:12 For the Word of God is alive and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Psalm 19:7-8 The law of the Lord [God's Word] is perfect, restoring the soul;
The testimony of the Lord
[God's Word] is sure, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord
[God's Word] are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord
[God's Word] is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The background BLUEblue

The color blue represents the tranquility that a believer has in his soul when he lives in the power of the Holy Spirit and obeys the Word of God. The oceans around us are always their bluest when they are perfectly calm. We can attain calmness of soul by trusting God to take care of our every need just as He promises.

Ephesians 4:14 That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting.

Psalm 91:2-6 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!” for it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge. His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. You will not be afraid of the terror by night or of the arrow that flies by day, of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.

John 4:14 But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.

heartThe heart represents God’s perfect love for everyone. His love has always existed just as He has always existed. He showed the greatness of His love for us by sending His only Son to suffer and die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. Because of His incomparable love for us, we can, through the simple act of faith in His Son Jesus Christ, spend eternity with Him.

John 3:16 God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 5:8 God demonstrates His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died as a substitute for us.

I John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

triangleThe Triangle shape represents the members of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, who are equal in deity and attributes but have distinct responsibilities. The Word of God is filled with references to the Trinity although the actual word, a theological term, is never used.

Jesus is God. In the beginning was the Word [Jesus Christ], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

The Father is God. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:2

The Holy Spirit is God. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. John 14:26

Since the Bible often declares that the only true God exists (Mark 12:29) as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we know that these three are the living God, our Creator and Sustainer.

And God said, Let us [the Trinity] make man in our own image, after our likeness. Genesis 1:26a

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19

The HEART and BIBLE combinedcross heart

At the moment of salvation, God changes us. Immediately, we have the capacity to love Him and all others. As we learn and obey God’s Truth, God the Holy Spirit gives us His power to love and be kind to even the most obnoxious people. And the more we learn about God through our intensive study of His Word, the Bible, the better we can follow His command to love Him. Then, our appreciation for His many blessings to us will soar.

II John 1: 6a This is love, that we walk according to His commandments.

Philippians 1:9-10 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ.

I John: 4:19-20 We love because He first loved us. If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”

The wordchristian

The word Christian is a title of greatest honor given to anyone who is in Christ through believing in Him as Savior. Every Christian is identified with Christ in His death, burial, and subsequent resurrection. Christians, who are also called saints in the Bible, are members of God’s royal family. They have an eternal life that they cannot lose and that can never be taken from them. Every Christian will always be in God's family. God will love and care for them eternally just as a father loves and cares for his precious children.

John 10:28-29 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

Titus 3:5-7 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace, we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
